More Quilt Market

Here are some more pics from Market. These are quilts that are on display around the show. I don't have designer names for them all, but I will try and get them tomorrow and update them when I get a chance.

This one is one of the raffle quilts.

Quilt Market Portland

Quilt Market in Portland is fabulous, of course. Portland seems like a nice city, haven't seen much of it because I have been wandering around market. I'm just going to post some pictures of market today, various fabulous scenes from the show.
Anna Maria Horner embroidery - gorgeous

Atkinson design - new quilt pattern

Quilted Fish - Amanda Herring - new quilt pattern and new fabric range. Fabulous

A very cute bag someone had, I had to ask if I could take a photo, isn't it wonderful.

Modern quilt by Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle

Absolutely stunning quilt from the new Modern Baby quilt book, the quilting is amazing. Can't think of the maker's name at the moment.

Great new bag pattern by ByAnnie. These will be available (pattern only) in the shop soon.

A wall in a booth, not sure who, but it is so much fun. I wanted to take one of the dolls home.

More from the booths, love the sofa.
Sock monkeys - traditional design but very modern take. I want to take these home as well.

USA trip

Still having a wonderful time in the States. Today I went on a bus shop hop, 4 fabulous quilting shops and one antique mall. Had to buy something everywhere of course.
But I haven't uploaded the pics yet so I'm going to put some up from my day trip to Vancouver. It was a very pretty city and I would be happy to go back anytime.
I love flying, but not sure about seaplanes. These land on the water in the middle of Vancouver.

A scene from the centre of Vancouver, pretty and clean.

Love this, it is a mailbox. Not boring, so much fun.

Fabulous statues, near Stanley Park, I think. Check out the size of the people compared to the statues. Unfortunately we didn't stop so I couldn't get any close up shots. Definitely on my list of places to go back to.

USA trip

Well here I am in sunny USA. I have been away for just over a week, had great plans to blog regularly but it hasn't happened. I have been visiting my fabulous friend Karla and her hubby just north of Seattle, and had a lovely time. Karla is so good, she takes me to lots of quilt shops. I also had a day trip to Canada, never been there before and thoroughly enjoyed it apart from the minor bout of food poisoning I came back with. I have pics of quilt shops and touristy stuff to post but today I will just show off some of my fabulous fabric purchases.
these are a nice range of browns, not my usual colours but these are lovely.

Monkey fabrics in brown and red, for my gorgeous friends Megan and Damien's new baby who should be here soon.

I always say I won't buy more black and white but I always do. Love them

This is one of my favourite fabrics, it is an Alexander Henry print. I don't think they are available in Australia. Inspired by Edward Gorey.

And another bunch that I just needed to buy.

Now I'm about to go to market. Might have to buy more fabric there. I will put up posts as much as possible over the next few days to show off some of the great stuff I have seen.

Customer projects

Wow, it is a month since my last blog post - bit slack of me I think. But today I want to put up 2 projects by my fabulous customers. One is a quilt and the other is a doll. Both are wonderful.
Firstly the quilt, made by Karlene, from a Rivendale pattern, for her new grandson. The original is done in pretty pastel colours and Karlene has changed that a bit. Love her choices. The fabric in the stars is fussy cut to have individual little animals in each one.
Isn't it fabulous. The pattern is called Be My Friend, and the verse on the heart is perfect for a special new baby.

and this one is Eddie, another fabulous doll from Shelly. It is a Jill Maas pattern and he is so cute. Shelly always does a great job on these dolls. She is working on a new one, I think, and will send me pics when she has finished it.

I am heading off to Quilt Market very soon and hope to find lots of wonderful new stuff while I am there. I will try to do some blog posts while I am traveling to show off all the fabulous things I see.

Liam's Quilt

I have finished one of the quilts on my list for this year. It is for Liam, he is turning 17 in May and I haven't made him a quilt since a little one when he was born. I think it is time he got a new one. I spoke to his mother and she said he liked blue, so this is what I did. The pattern is from Cluck, Cluck, Sew and is called Off Track. It was quick and easy and fun - all done with 2.5" strips for the coloured bits.

It is not quilted yet, but Belinda (from Eucalypt Ridge quilting)  took it yesterday and is doing it for me. I need to get it finished and in the mail before I head off on my exciting trip to Quilt Market in Portland in May. I will post pics of the finished quilt when I get it back and bind it.

Works in progress & finishes

I have been sewing a bit lately and thought I would post the pictures so that I have a record of what and when. Last week I posted a pic of the Lynne Alchin quilt I am working on, and I have done some more. I also finished a quilt for Hobbysew and Belinda and I gave two quilts to Relay for Life.

This is coming along very nicely. I had a great class with Lynne on Thursday and I'm really happy with it so far.

This was so much fun, quick and easy. Done with a new range of Batiks that Hobbysew (Orange) just got in. I think I will write it up as a freebie on the website.

This is the one that I did at Rydal, Belinda quilted it (beautifully of course) and it was raffled for Relay for Life last weekend.

This is an oldie but a goodie. It was a pattern I did a few years ago, the background is plain black. It was also quilted by Belinda and raffled for Relay for Life.
