Another Baby Quilt
I have finished another quilt - not sure what my niece will like, so I did two quite different quilts. Now I'm putting photos of both on the blog so she (or her mother) can let me know which one to get quilted. I love them both.
This one is from a Lori Smith pattern called Stars From Heaven. A friend thinks it is too pretty for a baby boy, but I don't know. I really like it, but I also really like the rocket ship. So Lysa or Courtenay get to decide and then I get the one they choose quilted for the new baby.

Fun softie kits

I have just got some really cute softie kits in. There are 5 different ones, an owl, a fairy, a kitten, a frog and an elephant. They are done with stitchery and applique and have everything in the kit to make them up apart from the stuffing. I'm tempted to make a couple for gifts and the elephant for myself. As I only got a few in I am only putting them in my eBay store

Blast Off Finished

I have finished the Blast Off quilt for my niece, just have to get it quilted and see if she likes it. I have started another one that is more traditional - a Lori Smith pattern called Stars From Heaven. I am doing it in pale blues, greens and mauves. I think it is really pretty and I should have a photo in a couple of days. I will let my sister-in-law see them both and tell me which one I should get quilted.
This is the finished baby quilt, I used as many really bright fabrics for the stars as I could find.  I Love It - hope Courtenay does too.

And this is another Lori Smith little quilt that I just finished binding. It is from one of her Fat Quarter Quilting patterns with 9 different little quilts in one pattern. Finished it is about 16" x 20". It was great fun to do, and I even quilted it myself - pretty basic though. It is a bit brighter than the original.

I'm finally doing some sewing again. Haven't touched my machine for several weeks, just keep looking at it thinking I need to sew. Anyway I moved it back into the loungeroom and have started a couple of projects. My niece is having a baby shortly, a little boy so I'm making him a quilt. I just hope she will like it, I think it's really cool - a rocket ship surrounded by stars. It's a The Birdhouse pattern called Blast Off. I may do another quilt as well, something more traditional in case she isn't into bright and funky for a new baby.

This is the centre panel, all the shapes are fused on. I will sew around them in black. Haven't worked out what color to do the stars.

This is my other sewing project. I made Sophia a quick and easy flannelette baby rug and Jo said it was great. I had some hexagons left over so I'm making another one. No plans for it yet, I'm waiting for a friend to get pregnant and she will probably get it. The hexagons are all rotary cut with a Darlene Zimmerman EZ quilting template. They are about 5.5" across the centre, a bit over 3" on each side. And then they are sewn on the machine, so easy. I've made about 12 Grandma's Flower Garden flowers so far, now got to sew them together and fill in the missing bits. It will be backed with flannel, but no wadding.

And I started a cross stitch. I'm a big tennis fan, but it gets a bit boring between points. So I grabbed a kit for a cute fish mobile, and started stitching. This is 2 nights work so far. Don't you just love the tennis.
