Dolls

I have been wanting to make some dolls for ages, and I haven't gotten around to it. But I have a pattern picked out and now I'm looking for some fabric. It is a simple doll but I need to start somewhere as I haven't made a doll for over a year. I love all the Jill Maas designs but I'm not really ready to start them at the moment, but I thought I would post a picture of one made by a customer. This is Shelly's Fred and Frogs in a Box. The pattern is by Jill Maas.
Isn't he so cute, I love him. Great work Shelly.

I will post some pictures when I pick fabrics and show the pattern I have chosen. This doll will be for me I think.

Fabulous Valentine's Day

Well I had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I started a new class with Lynne Alchin to make a gorgeous applique and pieced quilt. I forgot to ask if I could post a photo, but I will check next time, and I will post photos of mine as it comes along.
But I've almost finished the one I started for Fiona. I love it, not sure if she will but I will be very happy to keep it if she doesn't like it. Just have to finish the blanket stitching and get it quilted.
It's called Carolina Lily by In The Doghouse Designs.

And I had to go shopping today. Look at all the gorgeous new fabrics I got. Have a few ideas about some of them but nothing concrete yet. Haven't had a fabric shopping spree for ages. It was fun.

Valentine's Day Sale

Valentine's Day is one of my favourite days of the year. Not because I am a romantic, but because it is my favourite (and only) nephew's birthday. I don't get to see him very often but I still love him a lot. And so to celebrate I am having a sale in my eBay store (http://stores.ebay.com.au/millthorpe) and also in my online store (www.sewarmadillo.com.au). There is 10% off nearly everything, except some new listings on eBay. I can't mark things down on SewArmadillo so I will refund the discount or send a new invoice after any purchase.

Happy Valentine's Day

In Progress

I am trying to get a few things done this year that have been on my list for ages. This is one of them. I promised a friend a Black & White quilt, so I'm making one called Capistrano Lily by In the Doghouse Designs. True to my nature I had to change it a bit. And I'm not at all sure she will like it.
This is the pile of fabrics I have been sorting through for the applique. As you can see it's a bit bright.

And this is the main part of the quilt. The 'big' applique goes over the top.

I think I will let her decide if it is what she wants. She is a very pretty girly girl, and loves romantic styles and pretty quilts. Don't think this will be a 'pretty' quilt, but it will be fabulous.

Willow Valley Store

I haven't written much about patterns in the shop for a while so I thought it was a good time to do it. I have just put Willow Valley Store as the featured designer on the website and I'm giving 10% off all Catherine's patterns if you email me and let me know you read it here or on SewArmadillo's Facebook page. The designs are gorgeous, most have a very vintage feel to them, all have some form of stitchery on them as well. These are just a few of my favourites.

This is Wednesday is Mending Day, not much stitchery on it, but lots of buttons and ric rac and other fabulous vintage style.

The Country House - this is my personal favourite, it is on my 'to do' list. One day I must write them all out but I would probably scare myself.

Monday is Washing Day - this is fabulous, a real old fashioned peg bag, with a great vintage style stitchery design.

Vintage Revival - this one is for all the Crinoline lady lovers out there. She is so pretty surrounded by flowers. It is shown on a bag but looks wonderful framed as well.

Fabulous doll

Today I am posting a wonderful picture of a doll made by one of my fabulous customers. The doll is Snowdrop & Frosty, and is a Jill Maas pattern. And it was made by the talented Shelly of Queensland. Isn't it great. She is all done in white and I love her. Check out the pearls and the cute little bunny she is carrying.  Snowdrop is actually on my list to make, but I haven't made a doll for ages so I don't know when she will happen.
GOOD JOB Shelly.
