Wedding quilt top finished

I have finished the top for the wedding present, and I am very happy with it. It will go to Belinda in the early new year to be quilted and then I can give it to someone who has been very influential in my life recently. I used the To the Point pattern by Cluck Cluck Sew and did it mainly in Kaffe fabrics, it turned out bluer than I expected but that's fine. It is also not quite as big as I thought, the pattern has borders and I decided I didn't want borders on it. So it fits as a topper on my double bed. I'll take some better pictures when it is quilted.

Decided, and now for Christmas

Well, I have decided which quilt I am going to make. It is the To the Point by Cluck Cluck Sew, and I have even cut half the fabrics for it. I am using mainly Kaffes and lots of brights. I think I might make one with a white background and one with black.
Now for Christmas. I want to make a Christmas Tree quilt, and I have looked at several before deciding on which one I want to make. It is Step Into Christmas by Abbey Lane. I might not have time to make it this year, but now I know what I want it will happen before next Christmas. And I am going to do some redwork ornaments for Sophia's tree, the pattern is by Annie Smith and is called Jingly Dangly Things - isn't it a cool name. And I am also making Sophia a new hat for the summer - this one is a Fig Tree pattern and is called Amelia & Me.

And this is the latest project I am working on. I found a heap of purple half square triangles, 1.5" finished, in a box. They have been there for a large number of years, and I figured I should do something with them. They are now all made into 9 patches, and there will be four 9 patches in each block. I will put up some pics when I get a bit more done.

Decisions

Well I was planning to do more blogging once I got moved and settled but it all seems to have come to a screaming halt. But anyway, everything is good in my life at the moment and I am very grateful for that. I'm still trying to finish putting things where they belong but it is a bit hard when I don't seem to have enough room (or maybe I have too much stuff). We won't go there.

And now I have a bit of a dilemma. I have to make a wedding present for someone, it needs to be bright and modern and I am having trouble picking a design. These are some I am looking at right now, it could change again tomorrow. I figured I should find a design then get fabric, but maybe I should do it the other way.

These quilts are by some of my favourite modern designers, any suggestions would be gratefully accepted. I want to make them all but don't know which one would work best for a wedding present.

All Steam Ahead

It's been a while since I posted anything anywhere but I'm back now and All Steam Ahead. I have moved house and it was an interesting experience - I don't really recommend it. But I love living in my new house and once I finish unpacking and get everything sorted it will be great.

SewArmadillo is still going, with lots of great new stuff starting to come back in. I stopped ordering for a while during the move but that has finished now and I am ordering new stock, and getting in things that I have run out of.
So here are a few fun new patterns - these are Creative Cards - quick and easy little patterns in card format. They have brief instructions and template drawings on a single card. Just trace the templates onto template plastic and have fun making these cuties.

eBay store

Well, I have finally gotten around to  changing the name of the eBay store from Millthorpe to SewArmadillo. It should make it easier for everyone, and if I have news then everyone will find out rather than just eBay customers or SewArmadillo customers. There is a link from the SewArmadillo home page to the eBay store. And it should give everyone a better range of products to look at. I can't keep everything in the SewArmadillo store, so the eBay store has more range but the SewArmadillo store has things that are nearly always in stock or can be gotten easily.
So come and have a look, sign up for the newsletters, and join the Facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/pages/SewArmadillo/213346735363551

New Designer - from Norway - Northern Quilts

Northern Quilts - this is one of the fabulous new pattern companies I found at Spring Market. Wenche (the designer) is from Norway and has some lovely designs. I was immediately struck by her booth with its large romantic quilt hanging on the wall. It is called True Love and Happiness and is a Block of the Month pattern. She also has some other patterns in English and I am now carrying them in both the eBay store and SewArmadillo.

Wenche in her booth in front of the BOM quilt.

This is the pattern - it is a 9 pattern set and just gorgeous.

My personal favourite - called Penguin Winter quilt. So Cute.

Dalahorse quilt - love this one too, it is really simple to make - it has gone onto my 'to do' list.

New patterns

This is going to be a sneak peek at some new patterns that I have got from Market. They are by Hudson's Holidays - Shirley Hudson is the very talented designer. These will be available in both the online SewArmadillo store and in my eBay store. I found them to be so cute, and fresh and totally different to most other things I have seen. And Shirley was so nice. She packaged up a selection of her designs for me to start with. Her range is enormous. I will try to get more over the next few months.

Aren't they just the cutest things. They will all be on SewArmadillo by the end of the week and gradually some will be in the eBay store as well.

Still with Market

One of the themes of Market seemed to be pushbikes, they were everywhere. Lots used for decoration in vendor booths and even more on new patterns. Hissyfitz has one in their new 12" applique block patterns. I made a quilt for Belinda (the fabulous quilter) for Christmas with a pushbike on it because it was the first one I had seen. Now you would be spoilt for choice if you wanted to do a pushbike on a quilt. Here are a few of the 12" blocks from Hissyfitz, they are available in my eBay store, not on the website.

More from Market

I'm home, over my jet lag, half unpacked and back to work. So I can show some more pics from Market and my trip. Today will be the fabulous Kathy Schmitz and her equally fabulous sister Bonnie Sullivan. Kathy is one of the designers on my website, and some of her patterns are being discontinued. I have put pics of some of these on my facebook page, if you want them get them soon because I can't get any more.
Kathy's booth at Market, she was in the Moda section showing off her new fabric range. She also has a great new book that is available, the quilt in the background is from it.

Kathy in front of her great designs. There are several of her patterns I want to make.

Bonnie in front of her latest patterns, her specialty is wool - isn't it all gorgeous.

The last day of the show, I think Kathy had just about had enough so she was resting on the bed in Bonnie's booth. Love the crazy patch quilt.

Bluebird Nest - this is one of the discontinued patterns. It has been on my to do list for quite a while.

The Greatest Joy - another discontinued pattern, gorgeous as well.

More Quilt Market

Here are some more pics from Market. These are quilts that are on display around the show. I don't have designer names for them all, but I will try and get them tomorrow and update them when I get a chance.

This one is one of the raffle quilts.

Quilt Market Portland

Quilt Market in Portland is fabulous, of course. Portland seems like a nice city, haven't seen much of it because I have been wandering around market. I'm just going to post some pictures of market today, various fabulous scenes from the show.
Anna Maria Horner embroidery - gorgeous

Atkinson design - new quilt pattern

Quilted Fish - Amanda Herring - new quilt pattern and new fabric range. Fabulous

A very cute bag someone had, I had to ask if I could take a photo, isn't it wonderful.

Modern quilt by Bill Kerr and Weeks Ringle

Absolutely stunning quilt from the new Modern Baby quilt book, the quilting is amazing. Can't think of the maker's name at the moment.

Great new bag pattern by ByAnnie. These will be available (pattern only) in the shop soon.

A wall in a booth, not sure who, but it is so much fun. I wanted to take one of the dolls home.

More from the booths, love the sofa.
Sock monkeys - traditional design but very modern take. I want to take these home as well.
